Del Amitri have taken another step along the comeback trail by releasing another new single, ahead of their forthcoming album.
It’s Feelings, written by frontman Justin Currie and guitarist Iain Harvie, rolls back the years to the ’90s, when the alternative rockers from Glasgow were one of the best but most under-rated bands around.
To the delight of many long-time fans, including myself, they announced last year that they would be releasing Fatal Mistakes, their first studio album since 2002, in May this year, on the Cooking Vinyl label.
Close Your Eyes And Think Of England was released as the first single in November, and now it’s been followed by It’s Feelings, which reminds us of the band’s knack of crafting melodic and uplifting songs with lyrical bite which still manage to soothe the soul.
It’s Feelings is the sound of a 35-years-young band doing what they do best. Its parent album’s release will be celebrate with a special streamed show, details of which will be announced soon. They also hope to be able to confirm an extensive UK tour later this year.
During their original existence, Del Amitri released a succession of hits including Nothing Ever Happens, Always The Last To Know and Spit In the Rain. Five of their six albums reached the UK Top 10, and they sold more than six million records.
They split in 2002, but reunited for a sold-out UK tour in 2014, and the core duo of Currie and Harvie started writing material ahead of a second run of well-received shows in 2018. They realised that, without forcing it, they had created a bunch of songs that sounded “very Del Amitri”.
With Andy Alston (keys), Kris Dollimore (guitar) and Ash Soan (drums), Del Amitri recorded the songs in live as a five-piece band, and the resulting album, Fatal Mistakes will be released on CD, vinyl and digital formats.

Pre-orders are being taken HERE, while Del Amitri’s official store offers a selection of exclusive formats, including coloured vinyl, cassette and very limited test pressings. It also offers the five-track CD Outtakes and B-Sides, which features extra material from the recording sessions.
