Scotland Calling, the all-day punkfest which brings bands old and new to Glasgow, has had to be postponed again due to the Covid-19 pandemic – this time until 2022.
The event at the O2 Academy, originally meant to be held on 26 April last year, was rescheduled until August due to the coronavirus crisis.
But continuing uncertainty over the outbreak meant the organisers pulled the plug on that date too, and rearranged the event until 23 April 2021.
With no signs of the restrictions which have brought the live music industry to a shuddering halt being lifted, they have been forced to rearrange the all-dayer again.
A statement issued by the promoter today said: “Sorry to announce, due to current restrictions, we can confirm Scotland Calling, due to take place on Saturday 24th April 2021, will now be rescheduled to Saturday 23rd April 2022.
“Stay safe, stay healthy. Tickets remain valid for the new date. Please keep them if you can and we look forward to seeing you all next year.”
There’s one change to the line-up, with Skids taking the place of the Angelic Upstarts. The rest of the bill remains the same: Cockney Rejects, The Rezillos, The Dickies, Steve Ignorant with a full band performing Crass songs, UK Subs, Gimp Fist, Dirt Box Disco, Control, The DeRellas and 4 Past Midnight.
A separate gig by The Dickies, who were due to play at the Riverside in Newcastle with Dirt Box Disco on the night before Scotland Calling 2021, has also been postponed, until Sunday 24th April 2022.
And a tour by Steve Ignorant which was due to take in Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Brighton and London has also been rescheduled again, until 2022.
