LoGoZ are a punk rock ‘n’ roll band from Ashington in Northumberland, formed by main man Peesh back in 2012.

Joined by Paul on lead guitar and backing vocals and original drummer Carlos, they quickly gained a following on the North East gig circuit with their riff-laden Wildhearts-inspired sound.

The summer of 2023 saw the band – by now a four-piece with the addition of Peesh’s son Kieran on bass – release second album Welcome To The Freakshow (reviewed here).

Fast forward another few months and Carlos has been replaced by new drummer Danny, who seems to have given the band fresh impetus, playing harder and faster than ever.

This four-track EP is his recording debut with the band, and his pacey pounding proves a seamless fit for their twin guitar attack.

The EP is LoGoZ’s take on life in post-Covid Britain as it creaks under the strain of 14 years of Tory self-serving, cronyism and grifting.

It kicks off with Breaking Britain, a scathing condemnation of the state of the country today, complete with swaggering guitars in typical LoGoZ style.

Second track Suburban Times has a dystopian feel, a catchy as hell hook and a great chugging riff, as Peesh bemoans the waste of young lives to drink, drugs and knife crime.

Denialate, up next, is my favourite of the four tracks, with some Dead Kennedys-style guitar work, and a call and response chorus which points again to our shortcomings as a country.

Bringing up the rear is Introduction To Condemnation, another song featuring lots of anger, but plenty of melody too.

LoGoZ are very good at what they do, and this EP is as close as they’ve come so far to capturing their blazing live sound.

Breaking Britain by LoGoZ is available from the band at gigs, via their Facebook page HERE or from Peesh via peeshmusic@gmail.com. It costs £5 including P&P.
