Fast-rising punk band Lambrini Girls have today shared a new track, Body Of Mine, and announced a very limited 7in single.
It follows hot on the heels of God’s Country, which was released in February as their first new music since last May’s debut EP You’re Welcome (reviewed here).
It promises to be a big year for the band, who will tour the US with Amyl & The Sniffers before playing their own headline tour over there, then end the year supporting IDLES at their sold-out London shows.
They will also play their biggest headline show yet at Scala in London on 13 June, and have been confirmed for Glastonbury 2024.
A busy summer of festivals will also see them perform at Wide Awake, 2000 Trees, Reading & Leeds, Green Man and Manchester Psych Fest.
Formed in Brighton in 2019, Lambrini Girls are Phoebe Lunny on guitar and vocals and Lilly Macieira on bass.
Despite having just one EP to their name, Lambrini Girls have become one of the hottest properties on the DIY punk scene with their outspoken songs and incendiary live shows.
They explain of their latest offering: “While many of our songs are critiques of societal issues, Body Of Mine is a little more personal. This song is about trying to connect to your gender identity, feeling like you’re not fully yourself, and struggling to figure out how to truly become it.
“Gender is a complex experience. We acknowledge that this song represents just one perspective among many, of not knowing where you fit inside it all. It’s tough to feel that nobody really gets you and it’s also truly quite shit when you don’t really know how to understand yourself either.”
Body Of Mine will be released on City Slang this Friday on a purple 7in single limited to a run of 700. It has previous track God’s Country – a searing takedown of not-so-Great Britain – on the flip side.
