Philadelphia punks The Menzingers have announce a trio of special live dates to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their much-loved album Rented World.
The band – formed in Scranton, Pennsylvania in 2006 – will play one date in their adopted hometown Philadelphia and two in their home-away-from-home London later this year.
The venues are relatively intimate settings for The Menzingers these days, with their latest shows in London taking place at The Roundhouse and Electric Ballroom (two nights), and Philadelphia’s last concert from the band being at Franklin Music Hall.
The trio of shows are sure to be rousing singalong occasions with an atmosphere no Menzingers fan will want to miss.
The Menzingers are Greg Barnett (guitar & vocals), Tom May (guitar & vocals), Eric Keen (bass) and Joe Godino (drums).
Rented World refers to the band’s lifestyle when they moved to Philly in 2008. They were renting separate homes around the city, but maintained a practice space in North Philly, where the majority of the record was written.
It was The Menzingers’ fourth full-length album release and its stellar tracklist includes live staple I Don’t Wanna Be An Asshole Anymore, as well as fan favourites like Rodent and In Remission.
Rented World remained true to the band’s punk roots, while fearlessly colliding the snarl of early emo with grungy, ’90s grit (Bad Things) and exploring the celestial expanse of post-rock (Transient Love).
The Menzingers released their latest album Some Of It Was True via Epitaph last year to critical acclaim (read our review here). They continue to be some of the most accomplished songwriters and one of the most vital live bands of their generation (read a live review here).
