One of the UK’s brightest new punk bands, Lambrini Girls, have shared another taste of their upcoming debut EP.
Lads Lads Lads is the latest song released from You’re Welcome, which is due out on 19 May via Big Scary Monsters.
Addressing the subject of toxic masculinity, it follows hot on the heels of Help Me I’m Gay and White Van, which marked them out as rising stars in the making.
“In order to be a lad, make sure to follow the following guidelines: excessive drinking, harassing anyone with a pulse and starting fights,” said the band.
“Most importantly, make sure to never talk about your feelings as this simply cannot be associated with manliness. Lad culture is the shit stain on the bathroom floor and toxic masculinity is the toilet paper that refuses to unstick from the shoe of society. Nobody wins.”
Known for their energetic live shows, Lambrini Girls are due to open for Iggy Pop at his Dog Day Afternoon at London’s Crystal Palace on 1 July.
They will take their place on the bill alongside more punk legends in the shape of Blondie, Stiff Little Fingers, Buzzcocks and supergroup Generation Sex (Billy Idol and Tony James of Generation X and Steve Jones and Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols).
Lambrini Girls will also be embarking on their own headline tour in May/June, as well as fulfilling as a long list of festival dates at The Great Escape, 2000 Trees, Truck Festival and Rebellion, among others.
Brighton-based Phoebe Lunny (vocals & guitar) and Lilly Macieira (bass) sing about hot societal issues with a biting, tongue-in-cheek lyrical style which recalls the riot grrrl groups of the ’90s yet remains all their own.
The debut EP contains previous singles Help Me I’m Gay, which Phoebe used to come out to her mum, as well as the cat-calling putdown White Van. The vinyl will include two exclusive live tracks. You can pre-order You’re Welcome direct from Big Scary Monsters HERE.
