Martha, the Durham DIY indie-punks, have announced a release date for their long-awaited fourth album.
Please Don’t Take Me Back will be released by Specialist Subject Records on October 28.
The band, who specialise in pathos-soaked indie-pop, have long been a staple of the UK’s DIY scene, and their melodic punk-pop is easy to fall for.
They have already given fans a taste of their new material – their first in three years.
In June they released the album’s title track as the lead single, with an exclusive B-side – a cover of ‘Allo Darlin’s My Heart is A Drummer.
Last month they followed it with Beat Perpetual, backed with another exclusive cover, of Tenement’s Dreaming Out Loud.
Announcing the new album, they released a third track, Baby, Does Your Heart Sink, which is about dancing your worries away at the darkest timeline disco.
It has a video filmed at Pop Recs in Sunderland, with some help from friends Michael McKnight (Frankie and the Heartstrings), Mehzeb Chowdhury, Elf Kingdom and Ross Millard (The Futureheads).
The song is dedicated to the band’s friend Dave Harper, the drummer of Frankie and the Heartstrings, who died suddenly last August.
