Seattle streetpunks The Drowns have got the new year off to a cracking start by announcing a new 7in single.
As well as a new original song, the release features a cover of one of my favourite childhood bands, the mighty Slade.
The yellow vinyl 7in features a cover of Know Who You Are, from Slade’s 1970 second album Play It Loud, paired with The Drowns’ own new song, Guidelines Of Control.
The record, limited to 500 copies, is coming soon on Pirates Press Records, with pre-orders being taken now HERE.
These songs are the initial fruits of the band’s first sessions since their excellent 2020 album Under Tension (reviewed here).
The Drowns have never been shy to acknowledge those who’ve influenced their working class street rock ‘n’ roll, with Slade high up that list.
Frontman Aaron Rev says: “Their energy and rock ‘n’ roll sound is nothing short of pure sonic truth.”
The Drowns’ excitement at recording such a bootboy classic shines through – in both their performance of the song and the way they ham it up for the tribute sleeve art!
Fans will be happy to see a batch of recently-announced live dates as they bring their Stomp And Shout tour to the US and Europe in 2022 – including an appearance at Rebellion Festival in Blackpool on August 7.
