EP REVIEW: The Unnamed – UFO’d (Decontrolled Records)
The Unnamed are a garage-rock four-piece from the North East who only formed last year but appear to be in a hurry to get wherever it is they’re heading.
They released their debut EP, Can’t Take The Heat (reviewed HERE), on Decontrolled in September, and they’re back already with the follow-up.
Denni (guitar and lead vocals), Fosta (guitar), Kirt (bass) and Rich (drums) are heading into the studio soon to record their first album, but first they’ve unleashed four more slices of foot-to-the-floor rock ‘n’ roll.
This EP kicks off with title track UFO’d, which features a dusting of otherworldly guitar noises, topped with Denni’s Lemmy-like gravelly vocals.
Pounding drums drive the riff-laden Soul Destroyer, which is up next, while The More You Know keeps the pedal pressed all the way to the metal.
The EP closes with Skeletons, probably my favourite track of the four, packed with woozy guitar and Day of the Dead-type imagery.
