Let Me Downs, a new punk rock band from Tacoma, WA, have issued the title track of their forthcoming album as their debut single.
The three-piece were formed in the winter of 2019 out of the ashes of broken hearts and empty glasses.
Paul Levesque (bass/vocals) relocated from Phoenix, AZ, to Tacoma, WA, and recruited Garrett ‘Stump’ Guadiana (drums) and Pat Hall (guitar/vocals).
Something good
After just one rehearsal they knew they were onto something good, and after a few more Let Me Downs had written what is now their debut record, Tacoma Is For Lovers.
Soon after the trio formed Levesque had to move back to Phoenix, but they refused to throw in the towel.
With travelling impossible during the pandemic, Levesque recorded his bass and vocals in Arizona, while Hall and Guadiana did their parts in Washington.
The outcome was 11 slices of energised, emotionally-driven punk rock. The title track, Tacoma Is For Lovers, has been released as the lead single, ahead of the album’s July 16 release.
An enjoyable slice of melodic punk with just enough bite, it should appeal to fans of bands like The Menzingers, Face To Face and Hot Water Music.
Levesque, a veteran of bands such as Look Out Look and Lightspeedgo, says: “This record definitely means a lot to me. I wrote most of these songs when I was going through a real tough time in my life.
Life changes
“A lot of life changes happening. Still pulls on the heart strings a little bit when ever I play or hear the songs. My mind is still blown how we pulled this off.
“Recording in two different states is something I have never done. It was a challenge for sure.
“But I couldn’t be more stoked on how everything came together. I’m super proud of what Garrett, Pat and myself were able to accomplish.”
