North West Calling today became the latest punk all-dayer to bite the dust for 2021 as the UK follows its roadmap out of the latest coronavirus lockdown.
The event was due to take place at the O2 Ritz in Manchester on Saturday, June 5, after being postponed twice last year due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
But with restrictions on indoor events not due to be eased until the end of June, North West Calling has been postponed for a third time.
The organiser posted on social media today: “Sorry to announce, due to current restrictions and venue availability, we can confirm North West Calling … will now be rescheduled to Saturday 11th June 2022.
“Stay safe, stay healthy … by the way, tickets remain valid for the new date. Please keep them if you can and we look forward to seeing you all next year.”
Band availability means the line-up has had to be changed slightly, with Steve Ignorant (with a full band performing Crass songs) and Subhumans replacing The Rezillos and Angelic Upstarts.
Sham 69, with the line-up of Pursey, Parsons, Treganna and Guy, are headlining, and joining them on the bill are The Outcasts, Goldblade, Dirt Box Disco, Gimp Fist, Hung Like Hanratty, Duncan Reid & The Big Heads, Vomit and Litterbug.
Scotland Calling, which was due to take place next month, has also been rescheduled, until Saturday, April 23, 2022. Its bill includes Skids, Cockney Rejects, The Rezillos and The Dickies.
The organisers are hopeful that North East Calling, which is due to take place at Northumbria University in Newcastle on Saturday, September 25, 2021, will be able to go ahead. Sham 69 are the headliners, and the bill also includes Conflict, the Anti-Nowhere League and The Bar Stool Preachers, among others.
