Canadian skatepunk band Belvedere today released Good Grief Retreat as the first single from their forthcoming sixth album.
Hindsight Is The Sixth Sense is due out on vinyl, CD and digitally on May 14 on Lockjaw Records (UK/EU) and Thousand Islands Records (North America).

It is the long-running Calgary, Alberta, band’s first record since 2016’s The Revenge Of The Fifth, and the first from their new line-up.
Frontman and founding member Steve Rawles said of Good Grief Retreat: “This song speaks of the average worker and the system that benefits off their labour.
“While the rich can hide behind laws, regulations and a corporate veil that doesn’t hold them accountable for their actions, the worker never gets ahead and has no chance of closing the wage and lifestyle gap. The Retreat in the title refers to the general populace demanding better conditions.”
Belvedere play fast, furious, melodic punk, and have never lost sight of their roots.
2020 marked the 25th anniversary of their formation, but since all their tours were moved to 2021, they decided to write and record their sixth full-length album, which is a furious mix of old and new.
The new direction in songwriting is attributed to new members Dan Wollach on guitar and Ryan Mumby on bass. The familiar speed, riffs, insightful lyrics and singalong harmonies are still present and correct thanks to lead singer and founder Rawles and drummer Casey Lewis.
The album features a trio of guest vocalists in Roger Lima (Less Than Jake), Rody Walker (Protest The Hero) and Dylan Toews (Wolfrik).
Formed in 1995 and originally never even meant to play a live show, Belvedere quickly grew a reputation on the underground punk scene for their blazing fast speed and melodic vocals.
They split in 2005 but reformed in 2012, and have been a going concern ever since, albeit with some line-up changes.
