Cross-genre punks Millie Manders and the Shutup have shared their new single Age Disgracefully ahead of their autumn UK tour.
The single is a furious blast of prime Millie goodness, riddled with rage about the age discrimination faced by women, and catchy as hell.
“Ageing, especially in front of the media or an audience, and even more so as a woman, is still largely seen as something we should all disapprove of,” says Millie about Age Disgracefully.
“I have spent most of my life tearing myself apart in front of the mirror, so I wrote these lyrics in part to try and shake myself, in part to inspire others to be kinder to themselves, and as a whole heap of fuck you to the amount of anti-ageing adverts I am bombarded with on a daily basis.”

The forthcoming tour, which kicks off in Cambridge on 28 October, will see the band playing more intimate venues than they have recently, with support coming via four of the UK’s most exciting emerging bands – The Empty Page from Manchester; Bugeye from London; TOAST from Cheltenham; and Tokyo Taboo from London.
Speaking about the tour, Millie says: “Coming back to grassroots venues with a smaller capacity than we have been playing recently is going to be so wonderfully intense and intimate. We will be bringing our melting pot of party and rage as we Age Disgracefully in a time that is so unforgiving in so many ways.”
Millie Manders and The Shutup’s cross-genre sound remains increasingly hard to ignore, particularly their live shows, which are known for their power and contagious energy.
Fronted by Millie Manders, whose vocal dexterity is backed by grinding guitars and huge pop appeal, their lyrics deliberate on themes of loss, betrayal, anxiety, heartbreak and bitterness, environmental catastrophe and political unrest.
MMATSU have two albums to their name; 2020’s Telling Truths, Breaking Ties (reviewed here) and 2024’s Wake Up, Shut Up, Work (reviewed here). They are currently working on their much-anticipated third album.
