giant haystacks

The masked punk rock nutcase that is Spunk Volcano is back with a new single celebrating one of the legends of 1970s wrestling.

Dirt Box Disco’s frontman and main songwriter is so prolific that for the last 10 years he’s needed two bands to satisfy his prodigious creative output.

Giant Haystacks is the first new song in two years from Spunk Volcano And The Eruptions, who are much more than a side project, with six albums, two EPs and a handful of singles under their belt.

The band specialise in taking listeners back to simpler times, with past topics including hanging around the shops, gatecrashing parties and Ford Escort XR3s.

Giant Haystacks is available to download or stream from all the usual places, or exclusively in physical form as a split 7in vinyl single with Rat Hole in issue 24 of Safety Pin fanzine HERE.

Spunk Volcano And The Eruptions

Their first release since 2022’s sixth album Knacker’s Yard, it was premiered at Rebellion Festival at Blackpool in August, and is a typical slice of irreverent Spunk nostalgia.

Spunk Volcano And The Eruptions are the man himself on guitar and vocals, his Dirt Box Disco bandmate Maff Fazzo on drums, Joey Strange on bass, and Scott Bones and Tom G Force on guitars.

They claim to be influenced by everyone from the Ramones and Rancid to Leatherface and Leo Sayer.
