A cracking line-up of bands old and new has today been announced for the 2025 edition of punk all-dayer North East Calling.
The one-day ‘mini-Rebellion’ has become one of the most anticipated dates in the North East alternative music calendar since it started as Durham Punk festival back in 2006.
Now held at Northumbria University in Newcastle, this year’s NEC will take place on Saturday 18 October, with advance tickets going on sale at 10am on Wednesday 26 February.
As usual, JS Promotions has put together a good mix of bands, with first-timers Dead Wet Things, Spilt Dogs and Slackrr kicking things off for the more established names.
Local heroes Gimp Fist, who are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, and Crashed Out, who have been going 30 years, are among the popular regulars on the bill again, with the Oots performing a selection of Angelic Upstarts songs as well as their own.
There’s a welcome return for Hung Like Hanratty and Anti-Nowhere League, who both last appeared in 2021, and London DIY punks Wonk Unit return for a second time after debuting in 2023.
The top of the bill has a fresh look, with Ferocious Dog and Spear of Destiny both making their NEC debuts, and Rezillos returning for the first time since 2011.
Early bird tickets, priced £28.50 + fees, will be available until 31 May, and U18s tickets are £10 when bought with an adult ticket from www.gigbox.co.uk
