American pop-punk band Bad Cop Bad Cop have delivered a defiant pro-choice message with their latest new song.
Safe & Legal is the second song from the forthcoming double A-side 7in, due on 8 December on Fat Wreck Chords.
The release coincides with a period of heightened threats to abortion rights in the United States and around the world.
Bad Cop Bad Cop are using their voice to raise awareness and advocate for universal access to abortion.
Bassist Linh Le, who takes lead vocals on the song, said: “Abortion is a crucial aspect of healthcare, and everyone should have the right to access it without facing any form of social judgment.
“Our ongoing effort is to remove legal restrictions and integrate them as a routine medical procedure. It’s a private healthcare matter, plain and simple.”
The other song on the 7in, Shattered, which was shared in July, is message of positivity to anyone having a bad time. The release marks the debut of Alex Windsor on guitar, after she recently took over from long-time BCBC member Jennie Cotterill.
Bad Cop Bad Cop were formed in Southern California in 2011, and the current line-up now consists of Le, Windsor, Stacey Dee (vocals/guitar) and Myra Gallarza (drums).
They have released three albums – 2015’s Not Sorry, 2017’s Warriors and 2020’s The Ride (reviewed here).
