Rising cross-genre punks Millie Manders and the Shut Up have announced a new set of UK tour dates for autumn 2023.
Fresh off appearances at Slam Dunk, Bearded Theory and North West Calling festivals, the Norwich/London-based four-piece will embark on the Shut Your Mouth tour in October/November 2023.
With appearances at other notable festivals such as Rebellion, Kendal Calling and Boomtown under their belt, they’re a band who are picking up quite a following.
Helped by airplay from the likes of BBC Introducing and Radio X, the last two years have propelled MMATSU into the wider public conscience, beyond the confines of the DIY punk scene where they began.
Millie’s staggering vocal dexterity, grinding guitars and a locked-in rhythm section, as well as songs with huge pop appeal, have made them an unmissable live act.
With lyrics centred around themes of loss, betrayal, anger, anxiety, heartbreak and bitterness, as well as environmental catastrophe and political unrest, they’re a band with a keen eye for the personal and political issues of the day.
They have a green ethos too, with no plastic wrapping on any merchandise, and they sell limited edition artwork and clothing to help raise money for charities – all while keeping us uplifted and entertained.
Their live show (reviewed here) is renowned for their power and contagious energy, and fanwill be hoping to hear some new songs from the work in progress that is their eagerly-anticipated second album, due out in 2024.
MMATSU’s self-released debut album, Telling Truths, Breaking Ties (reviewed here) was one of our favourite albums in 2020.
Millie Manders and the Shut Up are: Millie Manders (vocals, ukulele, alto sax), Joe Quigley (guitars), Georgina Boreham (bass) and Pete Wright (drums, samples).
