Seattle street-punks The Drowns and ‘new queen of punk’ Suzi Moon have released a raucous cover of The Sweet’s Ballroom Blitz.
The artists, who are both on Pirates Press Records in the US, teamed up for the classic slice of glam rock ahead of their performances at this weekend’s Punk Rock Bowling (PRB) festival.
It’s available now on all major streaming platforms and on a limited edition flexidisc if you’re lucky enough to be attending PRB in downtown Las Vegas.
The Drowns, who recently announced a 7in split with Los Angeles punks The Last Gang and a European tour to coincide with an appearance at Rebellion Fest in Blackpool in August, brought the idea to the table and recruited Suzi to be a part of the track.
She has been relentlessly supporting her debut LP Dumb & In Luv (reviewed here) by supporting The Queers and Agent Orange on back-to-back US tours which equalled nearly 11 weeks of consecutive touring.
Free flexis
The song has been released as a digital single on all major platforms, and Pirates Press also produced 5,000 flexis to be given out at Punk Rock Bowling.
The Drowns/The Last Gang split, which pairs Subculture Rock ‘N’ Roll with Pleaser, will be released on 30 June via Pirates Press Records.
