Futurama, the legendary two-day post-punk and electronic music festival which is returning this year, today revealed a further wave of bands.
The event was due to be held in Liverpool on April 3-4, and is making a Covid-delayed return on September 11-12, 2021.
Peter Hook And The Light and Heaven 17 are headlining, and today a new batch of bands was revealed.
They include Manchester post-punk legends A Certain Ratio, who played the first Futurama in Leeds in 1979, and are confirmed to play the main stage on the Saturday.

Hugely influential
A hugely influential band whose funked-up post-punk has mesmerised for over 40 years, the line-up revolves around core members Martin Moscrop, Donald Johnson and Kez Kerr. They are currently enjoying a renaissance with their Loco album on Mute Records.
Moscrop says: “I remember playing the Futurama 1979, it was a great line-up of post punk and weirdness. We are really looking forward to playing the Futurama again! Can’t wait for September.”
They are joined by Clock DVA, the electronic pioneers formed by Adi Newton. They were one of the big three Sheffield electronic bands (with Human League and Cabaret Voltaire) who influenced those that followed. Clock DVA played the second Futurama Festival in 1980 and will headline the Substation on the Sunday.
Very special guests
Another very special guest are Sex Gang Children, one of the most important positive punk and goth bands, whose career has stretched over four decades. They’re back with new album Oligarch, and will re-enter the abyss by headlining the Planet X stage on Sunday. They played Futurama 4 in Deeside 1983.
Blue Orchids also join the bill on the Sunday. Christened by John Cooper Clarke, they formed in 1979 when Martin Bramah left The Fall. They have a new album out on May 25, and are about to support The Nightingales on their up-and-coming dates.
Spear of Destiny are replacing Kirk Brandon‘s other band Theatre of Hate, due to a hectic schedule which meant ToH were fine for April 2021 but not September, after the festival was moved.
