One of Scotland’s most highly-rated new indie bands, The Snuts, have announced the release date for their eagerly-awaited debut album, plus a massive UK tour.
The fourpiece looked set to take the country by storm after they landed a top 15 chart position with their debut Mixtape EP – until coronavirus laid waste to their best-laid plans.
Today they announced that their raucous, hook-laden long player W.L. will be released on March 19, 2021, on Parlophone Records, and will be followed – pandemic permitting – by a full UK tour.
Hailing from Whitburn, West Lothian, The Snuts have well and truly found their stride on W.L.. Produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck) and recorded at the Firepit London, the record encapsulates the journey of four working class kids growing up with a dream to becoming one of the UK’s most hotly-tipped bands.
Lead singer Jack Cochrane says: “Our debut album W.L. is our lifetime work. It’s a collection of milestones and melodies that time-stamp a dream we had becoming a reality. It’s a record about being true, loving and resilient.”
The Snuts have already earned a growing reputation for their uninhibited, sweat-drenched live shows, and hope to remind us why with a UK tour in May/June 2021, including a date at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom.
Cochrane said: “We promised ourselves that playing the world-famous Barrowlands and releasing our debut record would be eternally intertwined. This occasion is a celebration of that fact for us as a band and the fans who have supported us unconditionally.”
During lockdown, The Snuts and their fanbase raised more than £3,300 for their crew, who had been left without work by the pandemic. Cochrane also established himself as a voice for the people, writing an impassioned open letter to Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon as part of the #LetTheMusicPlay movement.
After unexpectedly dropping the bluesy summer banger That’s All It Is, which features on the soundtrack for the mega-selling game FIFA 21, they emerged from lockdown by playing two socially-distanced shows with The Libertines in September, and released an infectiously haunting single, Always.
