The Subways announce new editions of their first two albums as they prepare to tour their debut record in full

Indie-rock band The Subways have announced two very special releases to mark the 15^th anniversary of their debut album next year.

The trio from Welwyn Garden City burst onto the scene in 2005, and quickly established themselves as one of Britain’s most exhilarating new bands.

Their rise was rapid, with huge UK tours and festival appearances including main-stage Glastonbury (hand-picked by Michael Eavis), Reading & Leeds, and invites from Oasis, Foo Fighters and ACDC to support them at stadium shows. 

2020 marks 15 years since the release of their debut album Young For Eternity, and on 27 March they will reissue it, along with second album All or Nothing,

For the first time both albums will be released as 12in vinyl versions, on limited edition, numbered, coloured vinyl, with each including a unique signed poster.

There will also be extended 2CD editions of both albums, which will include previously unheard and unreleased material.

Young For Eternity will feature 49 tracks: the original album, 2 extended bonus tracks, the 5-track ‘1AM’ EP, 8 B-sides, a 6-track Kitchen Demos’ EP, a Zane Lowe BBC Session from 2004, a 4-track acoustic EP and 8 tracks live from Reading Festival 2006.

All Or Nothing will feature 42 tracks: the original album, 2 extended bonus tracks, 4 B-sides, 6 unreleased demo recordings (of unheard songs), 4 covers, a Zane Lowe BBC Session from 2008, a 6-track acoustic EP, 3 tracks live at Reading Festival 2006 and 3 tracks live in Berlin for iTunes in 2008.

The trio (Billy Lunn, guitar & vocals, Charlotte Cooper, bass & vocals, and Josh Morgan, drums) are embarking on a UK tour, where they will play the Young For Eternity in full.

The first album was produced by Ian Broudie of The Lightning Seeds, and the second by the legendary Butch Vig, who produced Nirvana’s Nevermind.

Frontman Billy explains: “Nearly 15 years ago, when Young For Eternity was released, Josh and Charlotte were 18 and 19 years old, and I was 20. Touring our debut album was, for us, an adventurous explosion of excitement, just as every tour since then has been.

“In 2020, we get to relive that initial excitement when we embark on the Young For Eternity tour to play the album in full. None of us can truly express just how thrilled we are that we get the chance to do this.”
