Manchester indie punk trio Aerial Salad today released new single Everybody Needs Somebody – the first track to be lifted from their new album.
Ideal World, their fourth long-player, is due for release on 6th November via Venn Records. It’s their first new music since 2025’s Roi de l’herbe EP (reviewed here) and finds the trio in fine fettle.
Frontman Jamie Munro says: The song is about love and friendship in the darkest of times, centred around the lyric: ‘Life is one memory. If you don’t believe in yourself, just keep going.’ It’s a reminder not only to themselves, but also to their loved ones.
Aerial Salad manage to have a unique but expansive sound. As Noel Gallagher once said, “All the best bands are just playing their record collection.” Well, these three clearly only listen to bangers.
Everybody Needs Somebody is as catchy as we’ve come to expect from the Salad, and sets the bar high for what’s to come.
BBC Introducing have already played the track and said: “There’s three universal languages, Love, Music and football. This nails two of the three very well.”
The video for the single was filmed upstairs at The Castle Hotel, the Manchester pub where they cut their teeth playing (and drinking). They invited some local aspiring actors to see if they fancied being Aerial Salad for 15 minutes.

The band describe Ideal World as a commentary on the collective fear, misery and hardship which significant parts of society across the globe are facing.
Through that pain, however, there is a clear and vital message running through both their music and the album: we all have the ability to make life so much better. It can get better, and hopefully, it will.
Aerial Salad are Jamie Munro (vocals/guitar), Mike ‘Wimbo’ Wimbleton (vocals/bass) and Jake Marshall (drums). Their album Ideal World is up for pre-order now HERE.
