Philadelphia punk institution The Menzingers have today released their first new music in more than two years.

New single Nobody’s Heroes – nothing to do with the Stiff Little Fingers classic of the same name – is their first release since 2023 seventh album Some Of It Was True.

Recorded with Grammy-winning producer Will Yip at his Memory Music Studios in South Philly, the song sharpens the band’s signature blend of working-class grit and indie-punk swagger, adding new depth to their heartland-rock sound.

Nobody’s Heroes comes with a DIY in-studio performance video which they filmed and directed themselves. It shows the band in their element, panning between intimate shots of the band jamming and hanging out in their cozy studio.

“We started writing Nobody’s Heroes for Tom [May], who was going through a divorce at the time,” says vocalist/guitarist Greg Barnett. “As the song developed it became something even bigger. Nobody’s Heroes is the story of The Menzingers. How we’re at our best when we’re ourselves.”

The Menzingers emerged in the late 2000s and signed to Epitaph, but really hit their stride with 2012’s third album On the Impossible Past, which made it to many critics’ end-of-year lists.

2014’s Rented World, 2017’s After The Party, 2019’s Hello Exile, and 2023’s Some of It Was True saw the band refine their sound, embracing introspection without sacrificing power.

The Menzingers are Greg Barnett (vocals, guitar), Tom May (vocals, guitar), Eric Keen (bass), and Joe Godino (drums). You can see them live in the UK at Slam Dunk Festival at Hatfield and Leeds in May.
