New Jersey punk rockers The Ratchets have continued their singles release campaign by revealing an unlikely influence.
Policy of Truth is the latest release from the four-piece, who started releasing non-album singles last year via Pirates Press Records.
If the name sounds familiar, that’s because it’s a cover of a song by Depeche Mode from their classic 1990 album Violator.
The band has also created an evocative music video for their take on the song, which was also released as a single by Dave Gahan’s band, making the Top 20 in both the UK and US.
The Ratchets have always shown diverse musical influences when adding covers to their repertoire, and their take on Policy Of Truth could appeal to DM fans as well as their own.
The four-piece are enjoying a purple patch of releasing new music; Policy Of Truth is the sixth digital single they’ve released in the last year, along with two volumes of Odds & Ends.
Their sound might span multiple genres, but The Ratchets remain decidedly punk in their approach and messaging.
Since debuting in 2005 with the Heart of Town EP, they have released a slew of singles and two albums of top-notch blue collar punk; fan-favourite Glory Bound (2006), and most recently, First Light (2018).
