One of the UK’s brightest young punk bands, Noah And The Loners, have announced their debut EP.
A Desolate Warning will be released on 28 February on Marshall Records – home to other rising talents like Nova Twins, Dream Nails and Gen And The Degenerates.
Fronted by 19-year-old Noah Lonergan on vocals and guitar, with Amber Welsh on bass, Joseph Boyle on guitar and Noah Riley on drums, they’re a band with something to say – and they’re saying it loud.
Noah’s songs capture the zeitgeist of Gen Z – from personal tracks on teenage love and his experience of toxic masculinity as a trans man, to political blasts at racism, corruption and the climate crisis.
The band’s sound is influenced by original punk legends X-Ray Spex, The Clash and Buzzcocks, as well as more modern alternative acts like Idles, Paramore and Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes.
Noah And The Loners were the youngest band ever signed to Marshall Records, and their debut single Teenage Tragedy won support from the Kerrang! Chart, Amazing Radio, Radio X, and BBC Radio 6 Music.
Since forming two years ago the band have played SXSW in Texas, The Great Escape in Brighton and Rebellion Festival in Blackpool, and news of their debut EP is accompanied by the release of a new single, Crash Landing.
“This track came to us organically when we were staying at Joseph’s house during the summer of 2022,” says Noah. “We had not intended to write or rehearse anything, as we were taking some time off from the outside world.
“However, a moment of inspiration from Joseph, with the opening riff – our growing frustration with the UK government’s incompetence and hypocrisy inspired this social commentary on the state of politics in the UK today – led to the creation of Crash Landing, complete with lyrics, in no time at all.
“I don’t see the point of writing a song if you’re not saying anything, and I don’t think we’d be the band we are if the music wasn’t so personal.”
