Faintest Idea, a punk band from East Anglia who play politically-charged ska, have announced a release date for their long-awaited fifth album.
The Road To Sedition will be released by TNSRecords in the UK and Jump Start Records in the US on 31 March.
Their first new album in seven years, it promises to be their usual mix of rage-fuelled stomping infused with a good measure of bouncy ska.
If you don’t know Faintest Idea, they take the bouncing beat of 2 Tone and smash it over the head with fast, angry UK punk.
Hailing from Kings Lynn in Norfolk, they’re known for their incendiary live shows, where rabble-rousing lyrics shouted over layers of catchy brass and heavy boot-stomping beats.
Their songs are unapologetically political and personal, tackling issues of power, war, PTSD, climate change, economic inequality and the ongoing fight for a more equal world.
The first taste of the new album came in September with the release of lead single Nose Dive, featuring Riskee from Kent grime-punks Riskee & the Ridicule singer on guest vocals.
Faintest Idea vocalist and bassist Dani said: “It’s taken us a fair amount of time to finish this album, in part due to us wanting to make sure we threw everything we had into it and making sure we made it all sound as big as possible.
“This was massively helped by the whole thing being mastered by the legendary Alan Douches (Against Me!, Bad Brains, Slackers)”.
Playing everywhere from squats and bars to festival main stages and drawing inspiration from bands such as The Specials, The Filaments and Operation Ivy, Faintest Idea appeal to punks and ska fans alike.
They recently appeared at Random Hand’s 20th anniversary bash, and pre-orders for The Road To Sedition (available in four colour variants) are being taken now HERE.
