Ska-pop legends Madness have announced their long-awaited return to the live stage with The Ladykillers Tour.
The 14-date tour of the UK and Ireland starts at Dublin 3Arena on November 29 and culminates with a huge arena show at The O2 London on December 18.
Special guests at all the shows will be Squeeze, still helmed by the songwriting duo of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook.
Madness have spent 18 months cooped up considering their career options, before deciding to do what they do best – putting on great shows before a live audience.
And with a live set teeming with hits from their unrivalled back catalogue, what a tour this promises to be.
The tour news follows hot on the heels of The Get Up!, a global livestream event which premiered on Friday night live from the world famous London Palladium.
The evening featured two sets of classic Madness songs including Our House, One Step Beyond and Baggy Trousers, plus comedy, Mike Barson as the Queen, and guest appearances by Paul Weller and Roland Gift.
The stream also saw Madness premiere three new songs – Cruelest Comedy, If I Go Mad and Baby Burglar. They gave fans a tantalising glimpse of what the Nutty Boys still have left in the tank.
Camden beginnings
Madness emerged from the backstreets of Camden in the late ’70s and recently released a three-part documentary, Before We Was We: Madness By Madness, about the band’s beginnings.
During a career spanning 40 years, they have had 10 UK Top 10 albums, 15 Top 10 singles and won a multitude of awards.
They also performed on top of Buckingham Palace as part of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.
And they set the record for the biggest-ever audience for the BBC’s live New Year’s Eve broadcast – the most-watched TV music event of 2018.
