Stiff Little Fingers have had to pull out of one of their few remaining UK 2021 shows, at Kubix Festival in Sunderland.
The Irish punk legends were due to play the re-arranged event at Herrington Country Park on Saturday, July 3.
But continuing travel restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic mean the band have had to reluctantly pull out.
Frontman Jake Burns and guitarist Ian McCallum live in the US, and Covid quarantine restrictions make travel difficult.
Travel restrictions
Burns said: “We waited as long as we could and, despite some movement, the travel restrictions still in place by both the UK and US governments have meant that it’s not feasible for Ian or myself to fly to the UK.
“Therefore, we have reluctantly had to postpone Stiff Little Fingers’ appearance at this year’s Kubix Festival.
“We will definitely be appearing there next year, and we’re assured by the fine folks organising the festival that anyone who wants to can use their tickets for the 2022 date. Many apologies and hope to see you all some time soon.”
SLF have already had to cancel their 2021 UK tour, much of which was held over from 2020. The dates have been moved to 2022.
Their last remaining UK date this year is at the Great British Alternative Music Festival in Skegness, in October.

A spokesman for Kubix said: “Stiff Little Fingers are unable to play at this year’s Kubix Festival.
“But we’re delighted to confirm they will be joining us next year, on Saturday 16th July 2022, and they’ll be well worth the wait.
“We’d like to thank the band for all their efforts in trying to make sure they could play this year.
“But travel restrictions are still in place, too close to the festival this year, for them to be able to plan to travel here with confidence.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the band here in 2022, and if you wish to use your existing tickets for next year’s festival instead, just hang on to them to use in 2022.
“Better still though, join us this year as well, for what’s going to be a stunning day of live music.
Happy Mondays step in
“We are excited to confirm that joining us on Saturday 3rd July 2021 are the legendary Happy Mondays!
“We can’t wait for a party to remember and a day of fantastic live music that we all deserve, after so long away.”
