Pittsburgh punk rock ‘n’ rollers The Cheats are celebrating their 25th year and are celebrating with a new split EP
Split It Up sees Todd Porter and his ever-revolving band share a 7in with like-minded souls Wayward Brigade, from Maryland, with each band contributing two tracks.
The release on Screaming Crow Records opens with Only Thing I’m Fucking Is Up, one of the standout tracks on The Cheats’ sixth and most recent full-length album, 2025’s Old Rats On A New Ship (check that out on Bandcamp HERE).
It’s followed by a classic cover, their take on Fun City, by Tuff Darts, who were a glam punk band from New York City, and one of the first to establish an audience at the famous CBGBs venue in the Bowery.
Wayward Brigade were born in the dystopian chaos of 2020 in Hub City in Maryland, and debuted with the West End Tragedy EP in 2022. They self-released their first album, No More Heroes, in 2024. It’s available from their Bandcamp page HERE as a name-your-price download.
Their contribution to side B opens with a previously unreleased song, LNT, and continues with their take on the Cranked Up Really High-era Slaughter & the Dogs classic Situations.
