Squirtgun, the US pop-punk band best known for soundtracking cult movie Mallrats, are set to release their first new music in 23 years.
Their last studio offering was third album Fade To Bright in 2003, though they released a live album in 2008.
But the band, formed in Layayette, Indiana, in 1993 by Georgini brothers Mass and Flav, will release a 12in single featuring new material.
Ghostly Sunflowers, which features I’m The Ghost b/w Sunflowers, will be released on Pirates Press Records on 20 February.
Sunflowers tells the true story of Mario Calvi, an anti-fascist resistance fighter who was killed by Nazi soldiers the day after the Second World War ended, just steps from his mother’s arms in Lombardy.
I’m The Ghost tackles the difficulties of frayed relationships as life carries on, and poses the question: is it better to be haunted, or to be the one doing the haunting?
Squirtgun were one of the foundational bands of the 1990s pop-punk explosion, and most people will know Social, which played over the opening credits of cult 1995 film Mallrats.
Mass Giorgini has gone on to become one of the most accomplished producers in the punk rock world, working with bands such as Anti-Flag, Rise Against, Alkaline Trio and The Riptides.
Now he’s back with his brother and bandmates Dan Panic, Zac Damon and Kevin Sierzega as Squirtgun get set to fire again!
