Cash Bribe were a new name to me when their new EP Demonomics dropped into my inbox for review.
It’s their third release and their first for the Futureless label, and it’s hardly been off my playlist since it arrived.
Cash Bribe formed in Brooklyn in 2019, and an early line-up released debut EP Facemask City in January 2022.
The current line-up released the album Escape From New York in 2023 on its own label Fanxdangxo Records to much praise from reviewers.
Now they’re back with six slices of pissed-off hardcore which up the ante big style, and make them an essential band to look out for.
Lyrically, Demonomics addresses the unjust weight the billionaire class holds on our lives and the ways and methods used by those who imagine themselves to be our ‘betters’ to keep regular people distracted and mollified.
Songs like the title track and Faith Aversion blend metallic riffs into the attack, which means it should appeal to hardcore lovers and metalheads alike, but for me it’s songs like Bay Of Pigs and 10% which stand out.
Cash Bribe are Joey Dahlstrom (vocals), Kirk McGirk (guitar), Brian Jackson (bass) and Larry Koch (drums), and they are magnificently angry.
