{"id":9856,"date":"2023-11-01T19:44:26","date_gmt":"2023-11-01T19:44:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipamusic.co.uk\/?p=9856"},"modified":"2023-11-01T19:44:28","modified_gmt":"2023-11-01T19:44:28","slug":"the-lovely-eggs-announce-their-first-uk-headline-tour-in-two-years-and-a-new-album","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipamusic.co.uk\/?p=9856","title":{"rendered":"The Lovely Eggs announce their first UK headline tour in two years and a new album"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DIY indie-punk duo <strong>The Lovely Eggs<\/strong> have today announced a new tour for May 2024 &#8211; and a new album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lovely Eggs have become one of indie music&#8217;s most beloved bands, despite the fact they&#8217;re completely DIY.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Married couple Holly Ross (guitar and vocals) and David Blackwell (drums) operate on their own terms, making music, records, art and TV shows, as well as playing sold-out shows to fans around the country who have become hooked on their observational and often-bizarre lyrics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They have no management, booking agent, record label or publisher, but their most recent album, <em>I Am Moron<\/em>, made it to No 1 in the Official UK Independent Charts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their most recent single, the confusingly titled <em>I, Moron<\/em>, was a collaboration with celebrity fan and godfather of punk Iggy Pop, and made No 1 in the Official UK Physical and Vinyl charts upon release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"I, Moron - The Lovely Eggs Featuring Iggy Pop\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fhWUyysUcNE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the fact there&#8217;s only two of them, The Lovely Eggs have a powerful raw sound which sounds like a full band, and they are known for their ferocious yet joyous live performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lovely Eggs are currently in the process of finishing the new album, their seventh, whose release will co-incide with their first headline shows in two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ve pretty much spent the last two years fighting to save Lancaster Music Co-op, which is a community rehearsal rooms and recording studio where we live,&#8221; said Holly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We\u2019ve put a lot of headline shows on the back burner because we were spending most of our time wrangling with Lancaster City Council over a long-term lease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe also had an idiotic idea to make a six-part TV show with artist Casey Raymond, so add that into the mix and we\u2019ve kept ourselves pretty busy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Positive future<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Eggs TV is now complete and out there in the world, plus we\u2019ve finally got a lease and long-term security for Lancaster Music Co-op, so we feel we can go on tour to celebrate, knowing that other musicians and bands in the area now have a positive future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is going to be frigging joyous to reunite with all our Eggheads across the UK and just have a big party each show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ve missed it! People know by now what to expect from us and we plan to bring it back with full force next May. Expect egg-shaped mayhem.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pre-sale tickets are available to members of the Eggs mailing list from 10am on Thursday 2 November and then go on general
