Drowns<\/strong> and <strong>The Last Gang<\/strong>, have teamed up to release a special split 7in featuring a new track from each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although they reside on the same side of the country, it was while touring Europe together that the idea to release a split was born &#8211; motivated by mutual friendships and appreciation of one another&#8217;s music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both bands are known for both their hard-rocking style as well as socio-politically conscious lyrics, so they&#8217;re a perfect fit for the 7in, which pairs The Drowns&#8217; <em>Subculture Rock &#8216;N&#8217; Roll<\/em> with The Last Gang&#8217;s <em>Pleaser<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Drowns are punk scene veterans who got together in 2017 to try their hand at creating something new, and came up with an energetic and heartfelt brand of streetpunk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Drowns - &quot;Subculture Rock &#039;N&#039; Roll&quot;\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BmYdvH1GqJ8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A promising debut album, <em>View From The Bottom<\/em>, was released by Gunner Records in 2018, and they followed with the excellent <em>Under Tension<\/em> (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ipamusic.co.uk\/?p=2257\">reviewed here<\/a><\/strong>) on Pirates Press in early 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They released a six-track EP Lunatics (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ipamusic.co.uk\/?p=7597\">reviewed here<\/a><\/strong>) last year, and started 2023 by releasing a split single with German punks <strong>Plizzken<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most recently, they collaborated with &#8216;new queen of punk<strong>&#8216; Suzi Moon<\/strong> on a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ipamusic.co.uk\/?p=9210\">raucous cover of The Sweet\u2019s glam classic Ballroom Blitz<\/a><\/strong> for a digital single which was given away on a free flexi at Punk Rock Bowling in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Last Gang<\/strong> were formed in Los Angeles by singer and guitarist Brenna Red in 2007, and have been through various personnel changes, with Red being the only consistent member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They self-released their debut album, <em>Employee&#8217;s Picks Vol. 1,<\/em> in 2013, and began to break out from their LA roots in 2017 with a British tour and a single on Fat Wreck Chords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Last Gang - &quot;Pleaser&quot;\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lSo2sFaoRK8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Picked as one of 18 artists to watch in 2018 by Alternative Press, they released their second album, <em>Keep Them Counting<\/em>, that year, and a third, <em>Noise Noise Noise<\/em>, followed in October 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On <em>Subculture Rock &#8216;n Roll<\/em>, The Drowns &#8211; who are returning to Rebellion Festival in Blackpool this summer &#8211; celebrate the joy and enthusiasm of music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, on <em>Pleaser<\/em>, The Last Gang veers into darker territory, examining a toxic
