Artists as diverse as Linkin Park, Rise Against, Blink 182, Paramore, Thursday, Dillinger Escape Plan and AFI have cited their 1998 album The Shape Of Punk To Come as a huge influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That album has become a cultural touchstone for the entire post-hardcore generation, with their reputation boosted by politically radical lyrics and energetic live shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a 14-year pause, the band \u2013 vocalist Dennis Lyxz\u00e9n, guitarist Kristofer Steen, drummer David Sandstr\u00f6m and bassist Magnus Flagge &#8211; reunited in 2012, playing much anticipated shows like Coachella festival. They were subsequently awarded the \u2018Special Prize for Music Exports\u2019 by the Swedish Ministry of Trade in 2013.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/refused-album.jpg?resize=640%2C640\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-886\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/refused-album.jpg?resize=1024%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/refused-album.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/refused-album.jpg?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/refused-album.jpg?resize=768%2C768&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/refused-album.jpg?resize=560%2C560&amp;ssl=1 560w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/refused-album.jpg?w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/refused-album.jpg?w=1920 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption><strong>War Music is Refused&#8217;s fifth studio album.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2015 they released their fourth studio album, Freedom, which\nwas recorded with Nick Launay (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Killing Joke),\nwhile also turning to Swedish pop\/producer Shellback \u2013 whose credits include\nTaylor Swift and Britney Spears \u2013 for the lead single Elektra.&nbsp; Former\nSoundtrack Of Our Lives guitarist Mattias Barjed also joined the band\u2019s touring line-up that same\nyear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We didn&#8217;t play a single show\nduring the making of the last album,\u201d says vocalist Dennis Lyxz\u00e9n. \u201cIt was a\nlong time to be away after the addictive chaos of our reunion shows in 2012. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPlaying to houses packed with maniacs losing their minds right in front of you is a narcotic to rival actual narcotics, we&#8217;d venture. So, as we went out on tour in the summer of 2015 we were getting pretty high on our own supply (of songs that is). It was amazing, simply put. But it was also obvious that \u2018Freedom\u2019 was, for the most part, a studio record. A great record, to us, but there was something missing as we started playing it live &#8211; something visceral, direct, relentless. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Refused - Blood Red\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DUOvGdXEzWg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAt a soundcheck somewhere on the road (Austin?),\nKristofer started playing this riff and we all got into it (jamming, as it\nwere). After a while we noticed that our crew had stopped working and that the\npeople working at the venue were standing around watching us play. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNow, people at venues usually hardly notice you,\nthey&#8217;ve seen a thousand bands more famous than you fool around with their\nprecious ditties as they&#8217;re re-stocking the bar or setting up barricades. So,\nas we were settling into the riff proper and it started rolling and bouncing\nthe way you&#8217;re hearing it today, whatever we felt had been missing, it was\nclear that we had begun to fill that gap. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe riff turned into \u2018Blood Red\u2019, the first song\nwe finished for the new record and the first song we played live off of it.\nIt&#8217;s fitting that it&#8217;s now the first song you&#8217;re gonna hear from the new record\nbecause it was truly inspired by you, our live audience, the old and the new,\nwho come out and help us turn every venue into a boiling hot mess. This one&#8217;s\nfor you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this spirit, Refused will be touring throughout the UK &amp; Europe in autumn 2019.\u00a0 Tickets are on sale now at
