Cult hero Amanda Palmer has announced a UK and Ireland tour to\npromote her latest album, There Will Be No Intermission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The singer, writer, pianist, activist and blogger first came to\nprominence as one half of the Boston-based punk cabaret duo The Dresden Dolls, noted\nfor their wide-ranging theatricality and inventive songcraft. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since going solo she has become known for embracing and exploding traditional frameworks of music, theatre, community and art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her latest record, her third solo studio work, was released in March on Cooking Vinyl after a successful crowdfunding campaign via Patreon which was backed by more than 14,000 fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She says of the album: \u201cI\u2019ve never been\nnervous about releasing a record before, but this one is different. The rise of\nglobal fascism alongside the spreading fire of #MeToo has forged a louder\nmegaphone for all women, and we\u2019re all seeing that radical truth is infectious.\nI feel more urgency than ever to share the naked truth of my experiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe kind of stories that I\u2019m sharing on this\nrecord – abortion, miscarriage, cancer, grief, the darker sides of parenthood –\nhave been therapeutic and frightening to write. But every time I play them for\nmy friends and fans, the nodding heads of empathy have lit a fire under my ass\nto record and release them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The album was well-received by critics, with\nThe Line of Best Fit\u2019s 9\/10 review calling it \u201ca<\/em> crucial, brutal, honest\nalbum\u201d<\/em> and Billboard\ndescribing it as \u201cunapologetically frank and revealing\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMost of these songs were exercises\nin survival,\u201d says\nPalmer. \u201cThis isn\u2019t really the\nrecord that I was planning to make. But loss and death kept happening in\nreal-time, and these songs became my therapeutic arsenal of tools for making\nsense of it all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Palmer\u2019s worldwide tour kicks off in The Netherlands in\nSeptember 2019 and travels through mainland Europe before heading to the UK\n& Ireland for 15 dates, culminating in three nights at London\u2019s intimate\nUnion Chapel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The touring show will feature Palmer on solo piano and ukulele,\nwith no band. It promises to be a night of graphic, honest and funny\nstorytelling and songs that she says will form her \u201cmost human and vulnerable stage show to date\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
