{"id":3872,"date":"2020-07-10T22:15:14","date_gmt":"2020-07-10T21:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ipamusic.co.uk\/?p=3872"},"modified":"2020-07-11T11:43:37","modified_gmt":"2020-07-11T10:43:37","slug":"the-lovely-eggs-release-video-for-new-single-long-stem-carnations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipamusic.co.uk\/?p=3872","title":{"rendered":"The Lovely Eggs release home-made &#8216;claymation&#8217; video for new single Long Stem Carnations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Psych-punk duo <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelovelyeggs.co.uk\/\"><strong>The Lovely Eggs<\/strong><\/a> have today released the home-made &#8216;claymation&#8217; video for their new single Long Stem Carnations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The song, released on their own Egg Records, is taken from their No. 1-selling album I Am Moron (<a href=\"http:\/\/ipamusic.co.uk\/?p=3090\"><strong>reviewed here<\/strong><\/a>), and is released on limited-edition orange 7in vinyl, with exclusive B-side The Voyage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Long Stem Carnations was inspired by the Mars One programme, a global project which aims to establish a permanent human settlement on Mars. Applicants are offered a one-way ticket- never to see Earth again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This fascinated Lovely Eggs Holly and David, who drew parallels between this mission and their own isolation as a band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Long Stem Carnations is a funeral march for society\u2019s outcasts and freaks. It\u2019s an existential voyage in cosmic form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube aligncenter wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Lovely Eggs - Long Stem Carnations\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yroP_DmwkEQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIs there an internal self-destruct button that cannot be destroyed?\u201d said Holly. \u201cWe are all the pilots of our own ship. You&#8217;ve just got to remember it\u2019s important to try and hang on and see the mission through.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the video the ever-inventive duo used lockdown time wisely and creatively to handmake their own claymation video for Long Stem Carnations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ve been making the video for Long Stem Carnations\u201dourselves at home over the last few months,\u201d explains Holly. \u201cIt\u2019s been a bit of a beast really. We love claymation and had done a bit of it in some of our previous videos, so we wanted to do something with animation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We forgot though that it just takes SO fucking long. And we had no idea it was going to turn out how it did. We modelled it on the cut-off head of a dummy and then transferred it to my face. It looked so freaky it was unreal and right there and then we knew the video was gunna take a drastic turn and we just followed it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We then decided that it would be a cool idea if I WAS the cut off dummy, cos the song is all about being cut off and isolation, so it was a perfect fit thematically. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We then faced the task of actually figuring out how to film it and put it all together! It\u2019s for the big bunch of freaks out there who feel like they\u2019re disconnected and out there on their own, but we\u2019re all connected in some way. We\u2019ve all just got to hang on for the ride!
