Kent punks Riskee and The Ridicule<\/strong><\/a> have emerged from lockdown with a new single, Blue Jacket, which makes their stance on Brexit clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band, who released their latest album, Body Bag Your Scene (reviewed here<\/strong><\/a>) <\/a>on Bomber Music<\/strong><\/a> last year, today unveiled Blue Jacket<\/strong>, which refers to the restraints that leaving the EU imposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The song pokes fun at the \u2018Brexit means Brexit at any cost\u2019 ethos. It\u2019s lyrically dark, yet musically happy, with a stark contrast between the disappointment and anger in the words and the optimism in the music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We hate Brexit,\u201d said frontman Scott Picking. \u201cMusically It\u2019s most likely going to cripple UK DIY touring bands on the mainland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNot only that, but with the way the world is so affected right now by Covid-19, we need unity more than ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNobody had a clue what they were voting for, and people are still none the wiser and all divided.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
