The six-piece mix Irish-flavoured drinking anthems with hillbilly country, folk rock and a dash of metal, which all makes for a diverse listening experience.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"436\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/finnegans-hell.jpg?resize=640%2C436\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2937\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/finnegans-hell.jpg?resize=1024%2C698&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/finnegans-hell.jpg?resize=300%2C204&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/finnegans-hell.jpg?resize=768%2C523&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/finnegans-hell.jpg?resize=1536%2C1047&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/finnegans-hell.jpg?resize=2048%2C1396&amp;ssl=1 2048w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/finnegans-hell.jpg?w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/finnegans-hell.jpg?w=1920 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\nThey&#8217;ve\nsteadily grown their fanbase since released their debut album, Drunk,\nSick And Blue, in 2014, and the follow-up Life And Death in 2018, and\nare the driving\nforce behind what the press have called &#8220;The New Wave of Swedish\nCeltic Punk&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\nThis\nis their\nbest album to date, full of songs about life, death and drinking, and\nit&#8217;s dedicated to the\nthirsty Irish poets Oscar Wilde (whose famous quote gives it its\nname) and Shane MacGowan, as well as Swedish bard Carl Michael\nBellman.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\nTheir\nsound is based around the core of guitar, bass and drums, but there&#8217;s\nplenty of traditional instrumentation too, with lots of their songs\ncontaining banjo, accordion and tin whistle<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> As with all the bands in this genre, the influence of the undisputed kings of the genre, <strong>The Pogues,<\/strong> is obvious, and the<strong> title track<\/strong>, which opens the album, is certainly the sort of rousing call-to-arms you could imagine them singing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube aligncenter wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Finnegan&#039;s Hell - Work is the Curse of the Drinking Class (Official Music Video)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lss5E243mQw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <strong>Six Feet Under<\/strong> and the rollicking <strong>Whiskey, Rum, Gin and Wine<\/strong> are also about the perils of alcohol, both moving along at a fair old pace,  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> The <strong>Promised Land<\/strong> is about the false promises made to immigrants who flocked to America, while <strong>Friends And Foes<\/strong> addresses the perils of drink and drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong> King Of The Bar<\/strong> is a more typically upbeat tune about living life for now, urging: \u201cFetch me a drink and a Cuban cigar, take a good look at the king of the bar, join me to celebrate, tomorrow could be too late.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <strong>The Last Dance<\/strong> and <strong>Tokyo Town<\/strong> are about encounters with unforgettable ladies, with the former reminding me a lot of The Pogues&#8217; Turkish Song Of The Damned, and <strong>Parasite <\/strong>is a bitter little song about being rinsed by your ex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> The closing <strong>When I&#8217;m Dead<\/strong> offers a welcome change of pace, as it&#8217;s a lament which closes the album on a more downbeat note. All in all, if you like any of those bands mentioned earlier, this is definitely an album worth checking out. <strong>7\/10. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
