Pic: Luke Henery.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Formed in 2016 while they were still at high school, the\nthree-piece from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, sing short, catchy songs about\ngetting drunk, getting high and all sorts of other anti-social behaviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The band is composed of guitarist Josh Price, drummer Matt Boggis, and\nbassist and vocalist Eamon Sandwith.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They went viral&nbsp;in 2017 with their song Smoko and its music video, Foo Fighters mainman <strong>Dave Grohl<\/strong> loved it so much he showed it to<strong> Josh Homme<\/strong>, who asked the trio to support <strong>Queens Of The Stone Age<\/strong> on their 2018 Australian tour. <strong>Iggy Pop<\/strong> did the same on his tour Down Under last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The band have been building a growing following over the course of two EPs and a string of singles, and now they have announced they will release debut album <strong>High Risk Behaviour<\/strong> on March 27 on Bargain Bin Records\/Cooking Vinyl Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The band have&nbsp;released an&nbsp;eye-watering video for their new single&nbsp;<strong>The Clap <\/strong>\u2013 a cautionary tale about the unwanted consequences of a sexual encounter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Chats \u2013 The Clap (Official Video)\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/POM_98oi0oo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chats have the police to thank for the title of their debut\nalbum. &nbsp;They keep giving drummer Matt Boggis tickets citing \u2018high risk\nbehaviour\u2019 for skating in places he shouldn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s an album inspired by Aussie greats <strong>Cosmic Psychos<\/strong> and <strong>The Saints<\/strong> and the UK\u2019s very own pop-punk greats, <strong>Buzzcocks<\/strong>, with 14 songs in 28 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Singer-bassist Eamon Sandwith says: \u201cI don\u2019t want to make the songs boring, so I just keep them short and sweet. We try not to think about it or complicate it too much. You don\u2019t want to force it or the song\u2019s going to turn out crap.\u201d<br> \u00a0\u00a0<br>2019 was spent taking the world by storm, with shows across Australia and the UK sold out, and they performed their first gigs in America (the LA show was attended by Homme, Grohl and Arctic Monkeys\u2019 frontman Alex Turner). But don\u2019t mistake simple for stupid \u2013\u00a0if it was easy to make songs this short, this catchy and this downright brilliant, everyone would be doing it.<br> \u00a0<br>\u201cI think they\u2019re good songs,\u201d says Sandwith. \u201cAnd at the end of the day, if I like it then fuck it, who cares if other people do?\u201d<br> \u00a0\u00a0<br>\u201cI just want people to have a good time. I want them to dance around and have a beer and enjoy it. We don\u2019t make songs for people to look at in a fucking emotional or intellectual way.
