Grunge pioneers Pearl Jam<\/strong> have announced a release date for their much-anticipated 11th<\/sup> studio album, Gigaton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The band, who were formed in Seattle in 1990 out of the ashes of another key grunge outfit, Mother Love Bone<\/strong>, will unleash their latest record on March 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year marks the 30th<\/sup>\nanniversary of Pearl Jam playing live for the first time, and to promote the new record they will embark on the first\nleg of North American tour dates in March and April. The 16-date tour kicks-off\non March 18 in Toronto and wraps with a two-date stint in Oakland April 18-19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those dates are in addition to the band’s previously announced European summer tour, which kicks off in Frankfurt, Germany, on June 23, and include a massive BST show in London\u2019s Hyde Park on July 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band’s 2020 line-up is comprised of founding members Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament, as well as drummer Matt Cameron, who joined in 1998.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Produced by Josh Evans and Pearl Jam,\u00a0Gigaton marks the band\u2019s first studio album since Grammy Award-winning\u00a0Lightning Bolt<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>which was released in 2013.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMaking this\nrecord was a long journey,\u201d explains lead guitarist McCready. \u201cIt was\nemotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental\nroad map to musical redemption. Collaborating with my bandmates on Gigaton ultimately gave me\ngreater love, awareness and knowledge of the need for human connection in these\ntimes.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gigaton\u2019s cover\nfeatures Canadian photographer, filmmaker, and marine biologist Paul Nicklen\u2019s\nphoto \u2018Ice Waterfall\u2019. Taken in Svalbard, Norway, the image features the\nNordaustlandet ice cap gushing high volumes of meltwater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
