One of the most entertaining bands of the late 1970s, The Rezillos<\/strong>, are set to bring Rezillomania to a new decade with a series of live shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Fay Fife and Eugene Reynolds are taking The Rezillos on the road again.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The band, formed in Edinburgh in 1976, burst into the music scene thanks to a shared love of \u201860s garage rock and the\nSpector-esque girl group glam of The Ronettes and the Shangri Las. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inadvertently caught up in the punk\/new\nwave movement, they shot to underground fame after influential Radio One DJ\nJohn Peel picked up their debut single I Can\u2019t Stand My Baby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They went on to release a series of sparkling three-minute pop gems like (My Baby Does) Good Sculptures, Destination Venus and Top Of The Pops<\/strong>, with the latter making the Top 20 and earning them an appearance on the TV show of the same name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their 1978 debut album Can\u2019t Stand The Rezillos<\/strong> made No 16 in the UK national charts, and the band also appeared twice on BBC2\u2019s legendary Old Grey Whistle Test programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A live album, Mission Accomplished… But the Beat Goes On<\/strong>, followed in April 1979, and also made the Top 30, but the band promptly broke up, to the anguish of fans and critics alike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guitarist and principal songwriter Jo Callis went on to join The Human League<\/strong>, where he co-wrote some of their best known songs during their most successful period, including their biggest worldwide hit Don\u2019t You Want Me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, vocalists Eugene Reynolds<\/strong> and Fay Fife<\/strong> formed The Revillos<\/strong>, a group with an ever-changing line-up, which continued where The Rezillos left off. They lasted until 1985, reforming in  1994 for a tour of Japan, and again in 1996 for a UK tour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2001 The Rezillos<\/strong> reformed after being invited to play at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations, and have continued to play live ever since, as well as releasing new singles occasionally, and the critically-acclaimed 2015 album Zero \u2013 their first long-player of new material in 36 years!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fay, Eugene, original drummer Angel Paterson,\nguitarist Phil Thompson and bassist Chris Agnew even embarked upon including a\nsuccessful tour of America, which the original band never reached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now they\u2019re hitting the road again,\naiming to inspire a fresh wave of Rezillomania with audiences young and old. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
