It&#8217;s not the finished product but you get the gist of it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube aligncenter wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Descending Into Madness (Demo) (2020 - Remaster)\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QuFUZ9g8cvo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Known for their raw, uncompromising sound, Discharge are a band so important they invented a whole new sub-genre of punk, <strong>D-beat<\/strong>, which has influenced both extreme metal and punk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They\nstill perform around the world at everywhere from club shows to festivals, and\nare recognised as one of the godfathers of the political and anarcho-punk\nscenes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Protest And Survive \u2013 The Anthology<\/strong> will be released as a 2CD digipack and double splatter gatefold vinyl LP. It is a 53-track collection spanning their entire career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heavily championed by John Peel in their early years, they clocked up several chart singles and albums and went on to influence metal bands like <strong>Metallica<\/strong> and <strong>Celtic Frost<\/strong>, as well as punk acts like <strong>Rancid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" height=\"488\" width=\"640\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/discharge-original-line-up-1024x780.jpg?resize=640%2C488\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2144\"\/><figcaption><strong>The original line-up of Discharge.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not for the faint of heart, they remain true to their \u2018noise not music\u2019 mantra and still detonate a sound akin to a bomb going off, to equal the heavy-weight lyrical themes of war, oppression and corruption.<br> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>Discharge\u2019s first single, <strong>Realities of War<\/strong>, was a huge hit upon release, especially when it was picked up for regular rotation by Peel, and it spent 44 weeks in the then-important UK Independent Chart, where it peaked at a very respectable No. 5. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its jagged aural attack was then honed to a razor-sharp edge for the second EP, <strong>Fight Back<\/strong>, which saw the band developing not only their sound but their social conscience, with frontman Cal\u2019s impassioned lyrics raging against authority, corrupt institutions and the injustices of war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their black-and-white imagery, minimalist production values and pacifist stance all crossed over with the anarcho punk scene that was growing in the wake of <strong>Crass<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"428\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/nec-discharge-bw.jpg?resize=640%2C428\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2149\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/nec-discharge-bw.jpg?resize=1024%2C685&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/nec-discharge-bw.jpg?resize=300%2C201&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/nec-discharge-bw.jpg?resize=768%2C513&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/nec-discharge-bw.jpg?resize=1536%2C1027&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/nec-discharge-bw.jpg?resize=2048%2C1369&amp;ssl=1 2048w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/nec-discharge-bw.jpg?w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/nec-discharge-bw.jpg?w=1920 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption><strong>Discharge&#8217;s sonic assault continues to blow audiences away to this day.
