Good things take time, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"659\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/peter-perrett.jpg?resize=640%2C659\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/peter-perrett.jpg?resize=994%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 994w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/peter-perrett.jpg?resize=291%2C300&amp;ssl=1 291w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/peter-perrett.jpg?resize=768%2C791&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/peter-perrett.jpg?w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/peter-perrett.jpg?w=1920 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption><strong>Peter Perrett of The Only Ones.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The resulting album, How The West Was\nWon, deservedly earned rave reviews, and took him back into the charts after a\nbreak of 26 years, showcasing a writer who was right back on top of his game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two years later, with Perrett now 67,\nwe have a follow-up, and it\u2019s just as good as its predecessor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a band including\nhis sons Jamie and Peter on guitar and bass, he continues to dissect romance\nand politics with his trademark laconic drawl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Infinity mirrors<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heavenly Day is one of the greatest love songs you\u2019ll ever hear, talking of \u201cinfinity mirrors, in the depths of your eyes\u201d, while delicious yearning sax is just one of the highlights of The Power Is In You.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Son Jamie gets a writing credit on the rollocking Master Of\nDestruction, but perhaps the standout track is the Velvet Underground-like\nWalking In Berlin (\u201cshe\u2019s walking in the street, cars are passing by, she\nreally owns the street, you know she owns your eyes\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of all the comebacks of recent years, arch storyteller Perrett\u2019s is one of the most unexpected, and the best.
