(self-released)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BE N!CE are a four-piece band from London who are bringing something new and different to the alternative music scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Formed in 2022, they blend punk with post-punk, hardcore, riot grrrl, grunge and alternative metal influences, which makes for a compelling listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pol Mills (vocals), Emily Harris (bass), Alex McIntosh (drums) and Brett Lee (guitar) have gigged hard around the south east, supporting the likes of Cherym, Pussyliquor and The SoapGirls.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Be-Nice2.jpg?resize=640%2C427\" alt=\"be nice\" class=\"wp-image-11626\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Be-Nice2-scaled.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Be-Nice2-scaled.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Be-Nice2-scaled.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Be-Nice2-scaled.jpg?resize=1536%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Be-Nice2-scaled.jpg?resize=2048%2C1365&amp;ssl=1 2048w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Be-Nice2-scaled.jpg?w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Be-Nice2-scaled.jpg?w=1920 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They spent last year drip-feeding a succession of digital singles into the world, and have now gathered all five together, added a new track, and unleashed their first physical release &#8211; and what a release!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It opens with the new track, <em>Get A Job<\/em>, a takedown of traditional American values with a real gothic feel. Powered by a huge fuzzy riff and thunderous drums, it&#8217;s a compelling listen as Pol insists: &#8220;We do not celebrate Satan&#8217;s Day.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Bedtime <\/em>comes from the viewpoint of someone who&#8217;s mentally and physically exhausted. It&#8217;s an altogether funkier song, which breaks into raging punk rock in the chorus as Pol screams: &#8220;I just wanna sleep\/I just wanna sleep\/Fuck off please leave me alone\/I just want to sleep!&#8221; We&#8217;ve all been there, I think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"BE N!CE - BEDTIME (Official Video)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DRRNsP9HZFY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An urgent guitar riff and regular changes in pace, ranging from spoken word to blazing hardcore, punctuate<em> One Bad Apple<\/em>, a patriarchy-bashing anthem about male privilege, and <em>Witch Hunt<\/em> attacks transphobes who play the victim while trying to take people&#8217;s rights away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Living a life wracked by paranoid thoughts is the topic of <em>Blow (Paranoia, Baby!)<\/em>, but the closing <em>Cambridge <\/em>is the best song here, and easily the most disturbing.
