London post-punks Dealing With Damage<\/strong> have today shared a new single ahead of a UK tour with Midway Still.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The band, formed in 2020, have two albums to their name, the most recent being Use The Daylight<\/em> in early 2023 (reviewed here<\/a><\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After bedding in new bass player Owen Cox, they’ve spent the last few months working up new songs, and have now released the first finished track from those sessions, Head Full Of Feedback<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a somewhat elaborate thank you note to my daughter for chipping away over the past fibe years at my previous refusal to listen to Sonic Youth,\u201d explains vocalist and guitarist Ed Wenn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI had seen them a couple of times in the ’80s and didn\u2019t like what I saw or heard, so consigned them to the \u2018Do Not Resuscitate\u2019 pile. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Off-kilter<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“A couple of years ago I investigated the music that I heard coming out of her room and discovered that these off-kilter, twisted, intelligent, sometimes downright beautiful pop nuggets were from none other than Sonic Youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs for the song itself, it was nice to write a story song about something light-hearted for a change. A lot of DWD lyrics walk along the serious side of the street, so it was great fun to write about art, music and memories of the 1980s, when life was full possibilities and we had more than three weeks left to save the planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
