Pic: Gary Welford.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recruiting Michael Gaffney (Rich Ragany &amp; The Digressions) on guitar, Ricky McGuire (UK Subs\/The Men They Couldn&#8217;t Hang\/Rich Ragany &amp; The Digressions) on bass, James Sherry (Dealing With Damage\/Done Lying Down) on drums, they begin to work on new material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 10in mini-album, <em>Rinsed<\/em>, was released in 2021, and now, after steady gigging and with a couple of appearances at Rebellion Festival under their belt, they&#8217;ve got round to releasing a debut album, <em>Sublime Destruction.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This gig is part of a tour to promote the record, which is released on 22 March on Cadiz Music (home to the likes of Ruts DC, Killing Joke, Wingmen &amp; Cockney Rejects). The new material seems to have moved them up a notch, and the band have clearly loved their first visit to the Bull.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This review wouldn&#8217;t be complete without a mention of the two local bands who paved the way for tonight&#8217;s headliners. First up were <strong>LoGoZ<\/strong>, who must be the hardest-working punk band in the North East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their brand of Wildhearts-inspired melodic punk slips down a treat, making them the ideal appetiser for what follows. Pic: Gary Welford.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The band recently recruited a new drummer, Danny, who seems to be driving them along faster than ever, and the band respond, smashing out old favourites like <em>Long Time Dead<\/em> and <em>Anti-Social Media<\/em> alongside tracks like <em>Tropical Apocalypse<\/em> and <em>Freakshow <\/em>from last year&#8217;s second album <em>Welcome To the Freakshow<\/em> (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ipamusic.co.uk\/?p=9354\">reviewed here<\/a><\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There&#8217;s a new song too, <em>Denialate<\/em>, from a forthcoming EP, but the pick of their set, for me is <em>Disgraceland<\/em>, dedicated to the band&#8217;s hometown of Ashington. I&#8217;ve lost count of how many times I&#8217;ve seen LoGoZ in the 12 years they&#8217;ve been together, and they never disappoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same can be said of Sunderland punks <strong>Loudmouth<\/strong>, who are a tasty filling in the LoGoZ-Desperate measures sandwich. Pic: Gary Welford.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a band who&#8217;ve been around 25 years they&#8217;ve got surprisingly little to show for it, with just two proper albums to their name, but a couple of new songs in tonight&#8217;s set suggest there&#8217;s new material on the way. I hope so, because they&#8217;re another hugely enjoyable band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Highlights of their set include <em>Self Centred<\/em> and <em>Friends Like You<\/em> from their self-titled debut album, and <em>Groundhog Day<\/em>, <em>All We&#8217;ve Ever Known<\/em> and <em>Thick And Thin<\/em> from their second &#8211; and most recent &#8211; long-player, 2017&#8217;s <em>Easy Tiger!<\/em> Time for another album, lads?
