{"id":10077,"date":"2024-01-15T17:28:46","date_gmt":"2024-01-15T17:28:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ipamusic.co.uk\/?p=10077"},"modified":"2024-01-15T17:28:48","modified_gmt":"2024-01-15T17:28:48","slug":"idles-release-new-single-gift-horse-from-forthcoming-album-tangk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ipamusic.co.uk\/?p=10077","title":{"rendered":"IDLES release new single Gift Horse from forthcoming album Tangk"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bristol post-punk titans IDLES have released the latest taste of their forthcoming album in the shape of new single <em>Gift Horse<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Tangk,<\/em> their fifth studio album, is set for release on Partisan Records on 16 February, to be followed by a major UK tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, the band unveiled <em>Tangk<\/em>&#8216;s third single <em>Gift Horse<\/em>, which has just received its first play courtesy of longtime champion Steve Lamacq at 6 Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The track continues to showcase the band\u2019s ever-growing ambition with the new record, which has already been previewed by the euphoric <em>Dancer <\/em>and the soulful slow burner <em>Grace<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/idles-gift-horse-cover.jpg?resize=640%2C640&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10080\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/idles-gift-horse-cover.jpg?w=512&amp;ssl=1 512w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/idles-gift-horse-cover.jpg?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ipamusic.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/idles-gift-horse-cover.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Gift Horse<\/em> ups the intensity from the previous singles, its lean, taut intensity balanced by an undercurrent of gristly grooves and stuttering, charismatic delivery from the always-thought-provoking Joe Talbot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Talbot has said <em>Tangk <\/em>celebrates love, communion and all of those powerful emotions that make existence worthwhile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He says of <em>Gift Horse<\/em>: &#8220;Look at us go! Music and movement for you and yours. Be bold and ride us like the disco donkeys we are. Or at least watch our video.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Gift Horse<\/em> is accompanied by a video which finds unity between the almost fantastical characters that lurk on the outskirts of society with the mundanity of day-to-day life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"IDLES - GIFT HORSE (Official Video)\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_HQrM5L9T1g?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s set in a supermarket, where a dead-eyed checkout man absent-mindedly scans items while the rest of the store brims with surrealistic images: social media creators, people in the midst of a manic episode, a straightlaced preacher, and guitarist Mark Bowen taking a mechanical bull by the horns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Tangk <\/em>is set to propel IDLES a leap beyond what they achieved with their previous album, 2021&#8217;s <em>Crawler<\/em>, which landed two Grammy Award nominations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All 2,000 copies of a limited edition Blood Records 10in of <em>Tangk <\/em>recently sold out in half an hour, but plenty of other formats are still up for pre-order, including translucent pink vinyl available exclusively from select indie stores and clear smoke vinyl with a matching PVC sleeve from the band&#8217;s official webstore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IDLES have already seen several live shows sell-out almost a year in advance.
