Spunk Volcano, one of the most prolific songwriters in UK punk, is set to return with a new single, with his band The Eruptions.
Tomorrow’s Promises will be released digitally and as a CD single on Avenue Recordz on 4 September.
It’s the second single the band have released this year, after the Ossie Ardiles-inspired Football in The Sun, which came out on the same formats in June.
Like the earlier release, there are two extra tracks on the CD version, both previously released. They are Shutdown (from 2017’s Not Wired Up Right album) and Old Wives Tales (from last year’s 2CD set Double Bastard).
SV and the Eruptions, to give them their radio-friendly name, may contain two members of Dirt Box Disco, but they are far from being a part-time side project.
Unchained from the restraints of playing guitar and able to concentrate on lead vocal duties, Spunk has free reign to indulge himself and his songwriting to whatever style he sees fit.
From sweetly sappy love songs to hardcore thrash and everything in between, there are no rules or boundaries for him or his Eruptions.
The melody, the sing-a-long and the ear-worm are the number one focus, and Tomorrow’s Promises is one of his more serious moments, seemingly reflecting on the break-up of a relationship.
Spunk Volcano’s songs are inspired by the joys and hates of life itself, will take you on a nostalgia trip to better times, or perhaps a visit to darker times, but offering a glimmer of hope.
They’ve been touring up and down the UK and around mainland Europe for the last seven years, spreading their unique brand of Spunk Rock, and releasing four albums and a couple of EPs on the way.
Spunk Volcano and The Eruptions are the man himself on vocals, Scott Bones and Tom ‘G’ Force on guitars, Joey Strange on bass and Maff Fazzo on drums.
Tomorrow’s Promises will be available from the band’s Big Cartel page HERE.
